The Caterist, a premier catering company in Chicago, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Morning Breakfast Prep Cook to support our morning catering operations. As part of our culinary team, you will play a vital role in preparing and assembling breakfast items for events ranging from corporate meetings to private gatherings. The ideal candidate has a passion for quality, efficiency, and teamwork in a catering-focused environment. Responsibilities- Prepare ingredients and components for breakfast catering menus, including chopping, portioning, and cooking. - Follow standardized recipes and instructions to ensure consistency in flavor and presentation. - Assemble and package dishes for delivery or service, ensuring items are properly labeled and stored. - Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and prep areas, adhering to all food safety and sanitation standards. - Operate and clean kitchen equipment such as ovens, mixers, and slicers safely and efficiently. - Collaborate with the catering team to prepare and load orders for delivery. - Manage inventory of breakfast items and communicate shortages to the kitchen manager. - Support set-up and break-down for on-site breakfast events when needed. Qualifications- Previous experience as a prep cook, catering cook, or in a similar role preferred. - Familiarity with catering operations, including portioning and packaging food for events, is a plus. - Knowledge of breakfast recipes and preparation techniques. - Strong organizational and time-management skills. - Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and flexible schedules as needed. - Food Handler Certification (preferred). Work Hours- Morning shifts (typically starting at 5:00 AM, depending on event schedules). Compensation- Competitive hourly wage, $18-$20 per hour commensurate with experience.
